How to Enable Blu-ray Movies Playback on XBMC (Kodi)

XBMC/Kodi is designed for network playback, so you can stream your multimedia from anywhere in the house or directly from the internet using practically any protocol available. Use your media as-is: Kodi can play CDs and DVDs directly from the disk or image file, almost all popular archive formats from your hard drive. Unfortunately, Blu-ray discs aren't supported by default in our favorite media center application, XBMC.

Apart from a few approved Windows programs, like PowerDVD, there aren't a lot of options for playing Blu-ray out of the box on a PC. No one has written any open-source software that can play back Blu-ray movies, nor is there any software library capable of decoding the DRM encryption on-the-fly yet. How to Watch Blu-ray movies on XBMC (Kodi)

Step One: Insert your Blu-ray into driver, and add your Blu-ray disc via "Load" button to the app. This program also supports DVD discs and DVD/BD folder.

Step Two: Here H.264 MP4 is the best choice for playing via XBMC. You can click "Format" and choose "Common Video-H.264 Baseline Profile Video(*.mp4)" as below.

Tip: If you are still not satisfied with the defaulted profile settings, you can click "Settings" to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish.

Step Three: Tap the convert button and start Blu-ray to XBMC conversion.

When the conversion completes, you will be able to get the result video via "Open" button. After that, you can stream or transfer the converted Blu-ray videos to XBMC for smooth playback at ease without any problem.
