Generally, in most countries that making backup copies of your personally owned DVDs is acceptable and a wise practise. People back up DVD to hard drive for different reasons: playing back, streaming wirelessly, or just for safe- protect the DVDs from naughty kids.
When copying DVD collections to PC Hard Drive, most of people want to retain original structure. Then in this article, we will show you how to backup DVD disc keeping original structure.
Required software: DVD Ripper or Blu-ray Ripper |
Download and install Brorsoft DVD Ripper or Blu-ray Ripper FREE TRAIL version on your Windows (10) PC. Follow the guide to copy main movie from DVD step-by-step. For Mac users, please switch to Brorsoft DVD Ripper for Mac or Blu-ray Ripper for Mac (compatible with macOS Sierra, turn to best DVD Ripper for macOS Sierra).
Step 1: Run the DVD Ripper/Blu-ray Ripper, then insert DVD disc to your DVD drive. Click the DVD disc button to load your DVD. The DVD titles and chapters will be listed on the program within a few seconds.
Tip: Computer should networked so that the ripper can access key for cracking the copy-protections.
Step 2: Select a destination folder
Click "Browse" button to select a destination folder for the output files.
The CSS and region code protection get hacked when loading DVD. DVD ISO can be also loaded to convert to VIDEO_TS/VOB file structure.
Step 3: Backup a DVD with original structures
Click quick button "Copy the entire disc" to starts copying the DVD disc to hard drive maintaining the original structure.
As soon as the copying task finished, you can click "Open" button to get the output videos. The backed up DVD movie is usually saved as a directory file structure within which there are VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder. The VIDEO_TS folder contains main movies (.vob) and lots of system files (.ifo and .bup).
Tip: If you just wanna do movie only copy, you can choose "Copy" > "Directly Copy" from the Format menu to copy the . vob files only. You can turn to DVD to DVD Main Movie to copy movie only from DVD discs.
VLC Media Player is one of the universal players that support DVD menu (DVD navigation) and video streaming to lots of other devices. It is available for both Windows and Mac.
If your media player does not support DVD navigation, you can drag and drop the DVD directory to DVD Ripper again and convert the movie to popular video formats (MP4, AVI, WMV, MKV, etc)
